Shri Vasuprada Plantations Ltd (formerly Joonktollee Tea & Industries Ltd) reported a strong turnaround for FY25. Standalone revenue from operations rose about 26% to Rs 12,257.99 lakhs from Rs 9,735.98 lakhs in FY24, driven mainly by tea, coffee and rubber segments. The company swung from a loss before tax of Rs 927.70 lakhs to a profit of Rs 630.41 lakhs, and profit after tax moved from a loss of Rs 830.96 lakhs to a profit of Rs 568.66 lakhs (basic EPS Rs 6.86). A big chunk of the profit came from a one-time exceptional write-back of gratuity liability of Rs 962.60 lakhs after the company moved to the Assam Gratuity Fund Scheme. Auditor Singhi & Co. gave an unmodified (clean) opinion on both standalone and consolidated results.
The headline turnaround and sharp revenue growth are positive for shareholders, but a large share of the profit came from a non-recurring gratuity write-back rather than core operations. Investors should look at underlying segment profitability (especially tea, which remains loss-making at the segment level) before drawing long-term conclusions. The clean audit opinion and stable capital structure support investor confidence.
