SJVN Limited has successfully synchronized the first 660 MW unit of its 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project (2x660 MW) with the National Grid. The project, located at Chausa in Buxar district, Bihar, is being implemented through SJVN Thermal Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary. Built with supercritical technology at a total investment of ₹13,756.56 crore, the plant is expected to generate 9,828.72 million units of electricity annually, with 85% of the output earmarked for Bihar. This milestone paves the way for the Commercial Operation Date (COD) process and adds to SJVN's total generation capacity.
This is a positive development for SJVN shareholders as the addition of 660 MW of thermal capacity strengthens the company's energy portfolio and supports revenue growth once COD is achieved.
