SJVN Limited has informed the stock exchanges about two board-level changes effective August 1, 2025. First, Shri Arindam Chaudhary, the Part Time Official Director representing the Government of Himachal Pradesh, has ceased to be a Director following a state government notification. Second, the Ministry of Power has extended the additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) to Shri Bhupender Gupta, who is currently serving as Director (Technical) at THDC India Limited. The extension is for a period of three months or until a regular full-time CMD is appointed, whichever is earliest. Shri Gupta has about 32 years of power sector experience and had earlier worked in SJVN for 12 years on the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri hydro project.
This is a routine leadership reshuffle typical of government-owned PSUs. The temporary nature of the CMD arrangement (3 months) may introduce some near-term uncertainty at the top, but continuity is maintained through an experienced power sector hand.
