SK Minerals & Additives has become the first Indian company to develop a halogen-free flame retardant additive branded 'Hofnil' (HFFR-XL), used in producing XLPE wires and cables. The product targets safer, more sustainable cable manufacturing and aims at both import substitution in India and global exports in south-Asian markets. The company is targeting Rs. 200 crore+ in cumulative revenue from this product by FY28 and has already secured a letter of intent from a reputed Indian wires and cables player. It is currently working on industry certifications ahead of a wider launch. The announcement was made at the Cable & Wire Fair 2025 in New Delhi.
This is a positive product diversification move beyond SK Minerals' core food and feed additives business into the polymer/cable additives space, with first-mover advantage in India and meaningful long-term revenue ambition. However, certifications are still pending and the revenue target is 3 years away, so near-term stock impact may be limited.
