SMC Global Securities reported Q1 FY26 consolidated operational income of INR 425.1 Cr, almost flat sequentially (+0.9% QoQ) but down 5.1% YoY due to softer market activity and muted broking volumes. Despite revenue softness, cost efficiencies drove a sharp recovery in profitability — EBITDA jumped 59.2% QoQ to INR 100.3 Cr with margins expanding by 870 basis points to 23.6%, and PAT surged 631.7% QoQ to INR 30.0 Cr with margins at 7.1%. However, YoY comparisons show EBITDA down 20.1% and PAT down 43.6%. All three segments saw YoY revenue declines: Broking & Distribution (INR 274.9 Cr, -3%), Insurance Broking (INR 63.2 Cr, -15.3%), and NBFC Financing (INR 40.8 Cr, -20%). Management highlighted operational discipline and an improving market backdrop as supportive of sustainable profitability going forward.
The strong sequential margin recovery signals operational resilience, but meaningful YoY declines across all business segments point to ongoing cyclical and volume headwinds. Investors should track whether the margin momentum holds in coming quarters and when YoY growth normalises.
