SMC Global Securities Limited submitted unaudited consolidated and standalone financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2025. Consolidated profit after tax came in at Rs. 2,995.01 lakhs, down sharply from Rs. 5,320.82 lakhs in the same quarter last year (a drop of around 44% year-on-year), though it improved from Rs. 4,008.77 lakhs in the previous quarter. Total revenue from operations was broadly flat year-on-year. Despite the profit decline, the consolidated operating margin expanded to 9.02% from 7.05% in Q1 FY25, indicating better cost efficiency. The company also raised Rs. 12,030.42 lakhs via NCDs during the quarter, and the board has now approved a further public issue of secured NCDs of up to Rs. 15,000 lakhs (including a green shoe option).
Year-on-year profit decline is a negative signal, but sequential improvement and margin expansion offer some comfort. The large additional NCD raise (up to Rs. 150 crore) will further increase leverage (consolidated debt-equity at 1.37x) and signals the company is leaning on debt funding to grow its financing and broking businesses, which shareholders should monitor closely.
