Spencer's Retail reported Q4 consolidated revenue of Rs 436 Cr, up 6% YoY, driven by Spencer's (8.1% growth to Rs 379 Cr) while Natures Basket declined 9% to Rs 55 Cr. Q4 EBITDA turned positive at Rs 2.2 Cr vs a loss of Rs 0.2 Cr last year. For FY26, consolidated revenue fell 9.8% to Rs 1,800 Cr due to store closures (Spencer's -10.5% like-for-like flat excluding closed stores). The company achieved gross margin improvement of 92 bps to 20.5% and Spencer's EBITDA margin expanded 96 bps to 19%. Operating expenses were cut significantly by Rs 54 Cr YoY, including a Rs 75 Cr reduction at Spencer's through region closures and corporate office savings. Despite operational progress, consolidated PBT remained deeply negative at Rs -250 Cr for FY26.
The company is making slow but real progress on the path to break-even through cost control and margin improvement, but the stock faces continued headwinds from persistent losses and declining revenue, making it a high-risk turnaround play.
