SpiceJet's statutory auditor, Walker Chandiok & Co LLP, has resigned effective June 13, 2025, after completing the audit for FY25 (year ended March 31, 2025). The firm had been auditor since December 2020, with its 5-year term due to expire at the upcoming AGM. Walker Chandiok cited independence concerns, stating the company had initiated discussions for them to provide certain non-audit services, which conflicted with the firm's internal independence policies. The same change applies to material subsidiary SpiceXpress and Logistics Private Limited. The Board has appointed Kalyaniwalla & Mistry LLP (part of the global Mazars network, established 1928) as the new statutory auditor to fill the casual vacancy, subject to shareholder approval at the next general meeting.
The auditor change appears to be a routine, planned transition tied to term-end and professional independence standards rather than any governance red flag. Shareholders should note the new auditor (Kalyaniwalla & Mistry / Mazars) is well-established; the event is unlikely to materially move the stock.
