SRF Limited has announced a significant increase in its capital expenditure plan for fourth-generation refrigerants. The original capex of ₹1,100 crores approved in October 2024 has been revised upward to ₹2,285 crores in May 2026, representing more than a doubling of the investment. The enhanced project scope includes a 20,000 MTPA Hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) plant, a 30,000 MTPA Anhydrous Hydrogen Fluoride (AHF) plant with forward integration into Value-added Hydrogen Fluoride products, along with utilities infrastructure at Gopalpur, Odisha. The project is targeted for completion by February 2028 and will be funded through a combination of debt and internal accruals.
The sharp increase in capex signals strong commitment to the fluorochemicals business and positions SRF for the anticipated HFO demand. While this increases near-term debt and capital deployment, it supports long-term revenue growth prospects in next-generation refrigerants.
