Star Cement Limited announced that its subsidiary, Star Cement North East Limited (SCNEL), has acquired 100% shareholding in Jaitaran Renewable Power Private Limited (JRPPL) for Rs. 20,000 in cash. JRPPL is a recently incorporated private company (March 2026) engaged in the Energy & Power sector with a paid-up capital of Rs. 0.20 lakhs and nil turnover. Following the acquisition, JRPPL became a wholly owned subsidiary of SCNEL and a step-down subsidiary of Star Cement Limited. The acquisition is aimed at diversifying the business into renewable energy and strengthening green initiatives. The transaction is not a related party transaction and was completed on 23rd April, 2026.
This acquisition marks Star Cement's entry into the renewable energy sector, representing a strategic diversification beyond its core cement business. The small acquisition cost (Rs. 20,000) suggests this is an early-stage investment in building renewable energy capabilities, which could be positive for long-term growth prospects.
