SAIL has appointed Shri Surajit Mishra as Director In-charge of Burnpur and Durgapur Steel Plants with effect from July 15, 2025. The appointment follows a nomination from the Government of India through the Ministry of Steel dated July 14, 2025, and approval by the SAIL Board. Mr. Mishra is a long-serving internal executive with over three decades of experience at various SAIL plants, and was previously Executive Director (Projects) at SAIL-ISP. He is a career SAIL technocrat with a B.E. in Electrical Engineering and has held leadership roles across plant operations, maintenance, and major expansion projects including the 4.08 MTPA expansion at IISCO Steel Plant.
This is a routine internal leadership change at a public sector company with no financial impact. Shareholders are unlikely to see any material effect on the stock from this government-nominated internal appointment.
