Stock market today: Sensex jumps 500 points, Nifty 50 closes above 24,400; investors earn ₹2 lakh crore in a day

Indian benchmark indices extended gains for the fourth consecutive session on Monday, with the Sensex rising 521 points (0.67%) to close at 78,285 and the Nifty 50 gaining 160 points (0.66%) to settle at 24,430. Investors added over Rs 2 lakh crore in wealth as the overall BSE market capitalisation climbed to Rs 482 lakh crore from Rs 480 lakh crore in the previous session. The rally was underpinned by the revival of the monsoon and foreign institutional investors turning buyers this month.
