Sumitomo Chemical India reported its best-ever Q1 performance with revenue rising 26% YoY to Rs 1,057 crore, driven by strong 30% growth in domestic business and 7% growth in exports. EBITDA jumped 36% YoY to Rs 219 crore, with margin expanding 154 basis points to 20.7%, while net profit surged 41% YoY to Rs 178 crore. Growth was led by robust demand in Insecticides (+23%), Herbicides (+26%), and a standout 69% surge in the high-value AND & EHD segment, supported by an early and surplus monsoon and 5% growth in kharif acreage. Net working capital days improved sharply to 43 days from 60 days, with cash and equivalents at Rs 2,209 crore, and the company remains debt-free.
Strong Q1 results with double-digit revenue growth, expanding margins, and improved working capital efficiency reinforce positive momentum. New capex of ~Rs 65 crore announced for capacity expansion (target Q4FY27) signals confidence in future demand, which should be supportive of the stock's growth narrative.
