Surana Solar's board approved audited results for FY25 showing total income of ₹3,998 lakhs, more than double the previous year's ₹1,886 lakhs, driven largely by a sharp jump in trading revenue to ₹2,879 lakhs from nil. Full-year profit before tax swung to a marginal profit of ₹4.26 lakhs from a loss of ₹90.31 lakhs in FY24, with PAT of ₹5.85 lakhs versus a loss of ₹125.89 lakhs. However, Q4 FY25 was weak, with revenue falling to ₹252 lakhs from ₹393 lakhs a year ago and the company posting a Q4 loss of ₹71 lakhs. The auditor (Luharuka & Associates) issued an unmodified opinion, though the company did not consolidate Surana Technologies due to severe long-term restrictions on operational and management control. The board also approved disinvesting its 49% stake in Surana Technologies and noted the resignation of independent director Boorugu Sri Nagesh.
Full-year turnaround from loss to profit and over 100% revenue growth look positive on paper, but the gain is heavily dependent on one-off trading activity while the core solar products segment shrank and Q4 slipped back into loss. The decision to exit Surana Technologies signals further refocusing but also removes a potential growth lever. Shareholders should expect a mixed reaction, with the underlying solar business profitability remaining thin.
