Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB) held its 103rd Annual General Meeting on August 8, 2025, at its Thoothukudi headquarters, with strong shareholder participation. MD & CEO Salee S. Nair highlighted the bank's focus on stability, scalability, and service excellence, and announced several new strategic initiatives. These include a Transaction Banking Group, a Global NRI Centre, an Elite Service Group for high-value customers, a Credit Management Centre, and a Digital Engagement Hub being built with EdgeVerve (an Infosys subsidiary). TMB has also partnered with Oracle and Deloitte India for cloud-based sales and expense management, and with Bajaj Broking for a 3-in-1 savings-demat-trading account. The RAM (Retail, Agriculture, MSME) segment now contributes 93% of total gross advances, up from 91% the previous year. The Board proposed a final dividend of ₹11 per equity share (110% of face value). TMB currently operates 587 branches across 17 states and 4 union territories, serving over 5.30 million customers.
The proposed ₹11 dividend and 93% RAM share are positives for shareholders, while the new digital and structural initiatives point to a growth-focused strategy. However, since many of these projects are recently launched, execution and adoption will be key to translating them into sustained earnings growth.
