Tata Chemicals' Board has approved a ₹100 crore investment to debottleneck salt capacity at its Mithapur plant. The expansion will add 82,500 tonnes per annum (TPA) of Iodised Vacuum Salt Dried (IVSD) capacity. The existing capacity stands at 1.60 million TPA with a high utilization rate of 92%, indicating the plant is operating near full capacity. The project will be financed through internal accruals and is expected to be completed over the next 12 months. The rationale is to meet growing demand for IVSD.
The expansion reflects strong demand for the company's salt products and will boost revenue potential without requiring major new infrastructure, as debottlenecking leverages existing facilities.
