Tata Power and Bhutan's Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) signed an MoU in Thimphu to build a skill development ecosystem supporting the development of 5,000 MW clean energy capacity. The training programmes will be delivered through Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) in three phases: safety training first, then technical skills for construction, and finally specialised capabilities for operations and maintenance of clean energy assets. The MoU ceremony was graced by Bhutan's Prime Minister Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay, with signing by Tata Power CEO Dr Praveer Sinha and DGPC Managing Director Dasho Chhewang Rinzin. DGPC will handle approvals from the Bhutanese government while Tata Power will obtain Indian government approvals.
This is a capacity-building partnership rather than a direct revenue-generating contract. While positive for Tata Power's international profile and TPSDI operations, it does not immediately translate to revenue or order flow for the company.
