TP Solar Limited, the solar manufacturing arm and a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power (via Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited), produced 2.9 GW of solar modules and 2.8 GW of solar cells in the first 9 months of FY26 (April to December 2025). In Q3 FY26 alone, cell manufacturing surged nearly 5x year-on-year to 940 MW (up from 196 MW in Q3 FY25), while module production grew about 7% YoY to 990 MW (up from 927 MW). Out of the 2.9 GW modules made, 2.4 GW were DCR (Domestic Content Requirement) modules and the remaining 0.5 GW were ALMM-certified modules. TP Solar operates a 4.3 GW state-of-the-art facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, using TOPCon and Mono PERC technologies, with Tata Power having invested nearly Rs 4,300 crore in it. The plant employs a workforce that is about 80% women, reflecting the company's focus on inclusive hiring and indigenizing the solar value chain.
This is a positive operational update showing meaningful capacity ramp-up in solar manufacturing, reinforcing Tata Power's clean energy and self-sufficiency strategy. It strengthens the company's positioning in India's solar value chain but is largely a progress update rather than a major price-moving disclosure.
