Tata Power's renewable energy subsidiary TPREL has commissioned a 1 GW (1,000 MW AC / 1,400 MWp DC) DCR-compliant solar project for SJVN Limited, located in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project uses 2.4 million solar modules manufactured domestically at TP Solar Limited's Tirunelveli facility. Power will be distributed to Rajasthan (500 MW), Jammu & Kashmir (300 MW), and Uttarakhand (200 MW). In its first year, it is expected to generate ~2,454.84 million units of green electricity and offset ~1.74 million tonnes of CO2. With this commissioning, TPREL's third-party EPC capacity rises to 4.9 GW and total renewable utility-scale capacity reaches 11.6 GW. Tata Power's own operational capacity stands at 5.8 GW (4.7 GW solar + 1.1 GW wind), with another 5.8 GW under implementation over the next 3–24 months.
Mildly positive for Tata Power shareholders — the announcement showcases large-scale EPC execution capability, strengthens the company's clean energy order book credibility, and highlights its integrated solar manufacturing-to-project delivery model, though no fresh revenue or order inflow is disclosed.
