Tata Power has announced two changes in its senior management effective May 31 and June 1, 2025. Mr. Deepesh Nanda, President – Renewables (and MD & CEO of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited), has resigned citing personal/family commitments and will be relieved on May 31, 2025 after 18 months in the role. Mr. Sanjay Banga, currently President – Transmission & Distribution, will be re-designated as President – Renewables from June 1, 2025 and additionally appointed as CEO & Managing Director of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited. Mr. Banga is an internal appointee with around 30 years of power sector experience, having previously led Tata Power Delhi Distribution and the T&D vertical covering Mumbai, Delhi, Ajmer distribution and Powerlinks Transmission.
This is an internal succession with continuity in the renewables business — the outgoing head is leaving for personal reasons, not due to performance issues, and the replacement is a seasoned internal leader. Shareholders should see this as a routine leadership transition with no material disruption to the company's renewable energy strategy.
