Tata Power's subsidiary, Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), has signed an MoU with VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV)—a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors—to accelerate the adoption of electric commercial vehicles in India. The partnership will initially focus on Eicher's newly launched Pro X range of small commercial vehicles. Tata Power will provide its extensive charging infrastructure and customised charging solutions, while VECV will contribute its energy efficiency expertise to optimise electric truck performance. The collaboration also aims to roll out other models from Eicher's broader EV portfolio, tackling challenges like range anxiety, charging access, and cost. Tata Power's EZ Charge network currently includes 1.5 lakh+ home chargers, 5,500+ public and fleet charging points, and 1,200+ E-bus charging points across 630+ cities, with 4 lakh+ registered customers.
This is a strategic partnership that strengthens Tata Power's position in the commercial EV charging segment, a fast-growing space. For shareholders, the deal expands the addressable market for Tata Power's EV charging business beyond passenger vehicles, though it is an MoU with no immediate financial impact disclosed.
