Tata Steel Limited has published newspaper advertisements and sent letters to eligible shareholders reminding them to claim unclaimed dividends. The reminder covers dividends declared by two entities that have amalgamated into Tata Steel: The Tinplate Company of India Limited (effective January 15, 2024) and Tata Metaliks Limited (effective February 1, 2024). Shareholders who received Tata Steel shares in exchange ratios of 33:10 (TCIL) and 79:10 (TML) as part of these amalgamations have unclaimed dividends spanning FY 2018-19 to FY 2024-25. The deadline to claim is September 29, 2026 for TCIL-linked shares and September 30, 2026 for TML-linked shares. If not claimed, both the unclaimed dividends and the underlying equity shares will be transferred to the IEPF Authority. Shareholders holding physical shares must also ensure their KYC and bank details are updated with the RTA to receive electronic payments.
Shareholders who do not act before the deadline will lose their unclaimed dividends and the associated equity shares (allotted post-amalgamation) to the IEPF Authority, with no further notice from the company. This is a compliance-driven process with no direct impact on Tata Steel's financial position or stock price.
