Tata Steel reported provisional 1QFY26 production and delivery volumes across its India, Netherlands, UK, and Thailand operations. India crude steel production stood at 5.26 million tons, while deliveries were 4.75 million tons, down from 5.60 million tons in 4QFY25 and 4.94 million tons in 1QFY25. The company attributed the decline to planned maintenance shutdowns at Jamshedpur (G Blast Furnace reline) and Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd (NINL), with both expected to normalise by July 2025. The Automotive & Special Products vertical delivered 0.77 million tons (4% YoY growth in hi-end products), Branded Products & Retail delivered 1.46 million tons, and Industrial Products & Projects delivered 1.6 million tons with Engineering up 5% YoY. E-commerce GMV from Tata Steel Aashiyana and DigECA reached Rs 1,350 crores, up 39% YoY. Tata Steel Netherlands produced 1.7 million tons and delivered 1.5 million tons, while UK delivered 0.6 million tons with EAF construction at Port Talbot set to commence this month.
India deliveries declined roughly 15% quarter-on-quarter and 4% year-on-year due to maintenance shutdowns, which is likely a temporary setback. Investors should watch for volume recovery in 2QFY26 as the blast furnace reline completes and NINL operations normalise, while the strong growth in branded retail, value-added products, and e-commerce provides a positive medium-term signal.
