Tata Steel reported provisional 3QFY26 volumes with record India crude steel production of 6.34 million tons, up 12% quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year, driven by higher output at Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar. India deliveries hit a best-ever 6.04 million tons, crossing the 6 million ton mark for the first time, with 9MFY26 deliveries up 6% YoY at about 16.3 million tons. Key verticals showed strong growth: Automotive & Special Products volumes rose 20% YoY, Branded Products & Retail crossed 2 million tons for the first time (up 12% YoY), and e-commerce platforms (Aashiyana and DigECA) saw gross merchandise value jump 68% YoY to Rs 2,380 crores. European operations (Netherlands, UK) were weaker on a QoQ basis due to seasonal factors and subdued market conditions, while Thailand deliveries improved 5% YoY on strong domestic rebar sales.
This is a strong operational update with India hitting record production and deliveries, signaling robust domestic demand and improved capacity utilization which should support near-term revenue and earnings. The softer European performance is a watch point but is largely seasonal, while the strong India momentum across automotive, branded, and e-commerce channels is a clear positive for the stock.
