TeamLease: Appeal filed today with Hon''ble High Court of Gujarat, pursuant to Receipt of Order from Employees'' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO)

TeamLease Services has filed an appeal with the Gujarat High Court challenging an order received from EPFO on March 11, 2026. The order relates to its subsidiary, TeamLease Skills University (TLSU), and concerns whether NEEM (National Employability Enhancement Mission) trainees deployed by the university should be covered under the Employees' Provident Fund Act. The dispute covers the period July 2014 to June 2022. The EPFO has taken the view that NEEM trainees should be treated as employees under EPF provisions. TLSU argues that NEEM guidelines expressly exclude trainees from PF coverage as the scheme assures training only and does not constitute employment. No specific financial liability has been quantified yet as the proceedings only address applicability. The company previously obtained a favorable interim stay from the Madras High Court in a similar NEEM matter.
