Techno Electric submitted its QIP monitoring report for Rs.1,250 crore raised in July 2024. The report confirms deviations from the stated objects due to cancellation of the NERGS I power transmission project by the Government of India. Following this, the company reallocated Rs.200 crore originally meant for NERGS I to its Chennai data center project via subsidiary Techno Infra Developers Private Limited, increasing that allocation from Rs.350 crore to Rs.550 crore. As of March 31, 2026, Rs.1,037.86 crore (85%) of the total proceeds have been utilized. The data center project is fully funded at Rs.550 crore, AMI solutions at Rs.200 crore is complete, and GCP of Rs.274.93 crore is fully deployed. However, Rs.187.07 crore remains unutilized for the power transmission subsidiary, temporarily invested in mutual funds. Some delays in implementation were noted.
The reallocation shows flexibility in deploying QIP proceeds toward the data center opportunity after the power transmission project was cancelled. The significant unutilized amount (Rs.187 crore) parked in liquid funds indicates slower-than-expected progress on power transmission projects. Shareholders should note the shift from infrastructure/power to data center investments, reflecting changing business priorities.
