Terai Tea Company reported strong revenue growth for Q1 FY26, with standalone revenue from operations rising about 60% year-on-year to Rs. 2,906.77 lakhs (from Rs. 1,811.65 lakhs in Q1 FY25), driven largely by the trading segment which jumped to Rs. 2,582.61 lakhs from Rs. 1,567.44 lakhs. Standalone profit before tax came in at Rs. 402.61 lakhs versus Rs. 466.63 lakhs a year earlier, a decline of around 14%, while profit after tax stood at Rs. 402.61 lakhs versus Rs. 466.63 lakhs. On a consolidated basis, including share of profits from associates, PAT rose modestly to Rs. 504.95 lakhs from Rs. 500.76 lakhs. The company swung back into profit after reporting a Rs. 962.85 lakh loss in the preceding quarter (Q4 FY25). The auditor, Saha & Majumder, issued an unqualified review report with no qualifications or emphasis of matter.
Top-line growth is encouraging and shows a turnaround from the previous quarter's loss, but the flat-to-decline in standalone PAT and shrinking margins (revenue grew faster than profits) suggest cost pressures. Short-term stock reaction may be modestly positive due to the return to profitability, though investors should watch whether margin compression continues.
