Ramco Cements reported FY25 net revenue of Rs.8,539 crores, down 9% from Rs.9,392 crores in FY24, due to a roughly 10% drop in cement prices. Sales volume rose marginally by 1% to 18.5 million tons, though capacity utilisation fell from 83% to 77% after a 1.3 MTPA capacity addition. EBITDA declined 20% to Rs.1,276 crores with EBITDA per ton falling to Rs.690 from Rs.867. Despite weak core operations, profit after tax rose to Rs.417 crores (vs Rs.395 crores) largely thanks to Rs.340 crores in exceptional gains from sale of investments and surplus land. The company reduced net debt by Rs.340 crores to Rs.4,481 crores (3.51x EBITDA), monetised Rs.460 crores of non-core assets, incurred Rs.1,024 crores in capex, and proposed a Rs.2 per share dividend.
Weak operational performance with revenue and EBITDA contraction due to price weakness overshadows modest bottom-line growth, which is propped up by one-time gains. Shareholders get a small dividend but face near-term margin pressure; stock may stay volatile until cement prices recover and new capacity gets absorbed.
