Time Technoplast's subsidiary, PowerBuild Batteries, has received the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) certification under standard IS 1651:2013 for its OPzS Tubular Batteries in transparent SAN containers. The certification covers 2V battery variants in 10Ah, 20Ah, and 300Ah capacities after over six months of rigorous testing. These batteries are used in power utilities, thermal/nuclear/hydro plants, offshore oil rigs, substations, and similar infrastructure-grade applications. The Indian power generation sector battery demand is estimated at around ₹3,000-4,000 crores, and PowerBuild is now among a select group of Indian manufacturers certified for this category. No additional capital expenditure is required as existing facilities can handle production.
Positive for shareholders — the CPRI certification unlocks participation in utility and EPC tenders without any extra capex, which should lift capacity utilisation and improve EBITDA margins. The stock could see a modest positive reaction as this expands the addressable market for the subsidiary.
