Timken India reported Q4 FY25 sales of INR 940 crore, up 4.7% year-on-year and 40% sequentially, with profit before tax growing 8% YoY and margins improving about 70 basis points YoY. Full-year FY25 revenue stood at INR 3,147.8 crore, an 8.2% growth over FY24, with rail (24.5% mix) leading at 17% growth and exports (18.6% mix) growing a modest 2.8%. Management announced new investments in plain bearings (GGB technology) using composite material, with the first line targeted for installation by end of 2025, and progress on Cone Drive solar tracker assemblies being supplied to Tata Solar from Bharuch. The Bharuch plant is expected to be capitalized by end of Q1 FY26 and reach about 45% capacity utilization by year-end. On margins, an analyst flagged that underlying PBT margin fell from 21% to 19% YoY after backing out a one-time INR 275 crore bilateral APA tax benefit, while management appeared unaware of the parent company's $10 million India/Mexico ramp-cost disclosure.
The strong sequential recovery in Q4 and healthy rail segment growth are positives, but underlying margin pressure, sluggish export markets (Europe and ASEAN weak), and a new CFO transition warrant close watch. Investors should track Bharuch plant ramp-up, plain bearings commercialization, and whether margin trajectory normalizes above 19% in FY26 once one-time tax benefits roll off.
