Titagarh Rail Systems has signed a 99-year lease with the West Bengal Governor for about 40 acres of land at Uttarpara for an aggregate consideration of ₹126.63 Crores. The new land is next to its existing 34-acre Uttarpara manufacturing plant, effectively more than doubling its footprint at that location. The additional space will be used to set up new production lines, testing and commissioning facilities, and a dedicated test track for metro coaches, Vande Bharat trains, and specialised defence rolling stock. The company is already executing orders in these segments, and the expansion is aimed at supporting that business pipeline.
This is a positive capacity-expansion move that signals management's confidence in growing passenger rolling stock and defence orders, though the ₹126 Cr lease is a long-term capex commitment that will need to be supported by order wins to drive returns. Near-term stock impact is likely neutral to mildly positive as it reinforces the growth story without changing near-term financials.
