Torrent Power filed its Q1 FY26 investor presentation with exchanges on August 5, 2025. Revenue from operations fell 12% year-on-year to ₹7,906 Cr, while profit after tax declined 26% to ₹742 Cr, and total comprehensive income dropped 26% to ₹739 Cr. Management attributed the weak quarter to lower power demand from an early monsoon onset and elevated gas prices that hurt merchant gains from gas-based generation, noting that adjusted for these factors, TCI was broadly comparable to last year. Renewable segment contributions improved on solar capacity additions and better wind PLF (31.6% vs 19.6%), and the distribution business showed higher profitability on improved operational parameters. The company outlined a robust growth pipeline of ~3.3 GW of renewable projects under installation, 2,000 MW pumped storage hydro project, and transmission projects (Khavda ₹800 Cr, Solapur ₹500 Cr), targeting total capacity expansion to ~8.4 GW.
A weak headline quarter with sharp profit decline may pressure the stock in the short term, but management's emphasis on a strong renewable and storage pipeline, low leverage (Net Debt/EBITDA 1.41x), and high return ratios (ROE 18.4%) suggests longer-term growth visibility remains intact for shareholders.
