Sundaram Finance Holdings reported strong Q1 FY26 results, with standalone total income rising to ₹134.40 crore from ₹79.78 crore in Q1 FY25 (~68% growth) and standalone profit after tax nearly doubling to ₹118.36 crore from ₹61.69 crore. Standalone EPS jumped to ₹5.33 from ₹2.78. On a consolidated basis, total income surged to ₹181.02 crore (vs ₹44.28 crore) and PAT including associates grew to ₹158.38 crore (vs ₹110.34 crore), driven by the consolidation of Axles India from May 2, 2025 after the company raised its stake to 62.98% (effective holding 89.42%). The company also sold 5.56 lakh shares of TVS Holdings, booking a net gain of ₹301.43 crore reclassified from OCI reserves, while reversing a cumulative ₹253.16 crore OCI gain on Axles India due to the change to cost-based valuation for subsidiaries. Auditor R.G.N. Price & Co. issued an unqualified limited review report on both standalone and consolidated results.
Strong earnings growth driven by the Axles India consolidation and investment gains should be positive for the stock, though the reversal of OCI reserves may cause one-time equity volatility. Investors should note that consolidated numbers are not comparable with prior periods due to the new subsidiary inclusion.
