UFLEX Limited has reported its unaudited Q1 FY26 results. On a standalone basis, revenue from operations rose to Rs. 3,900.56 crore from Rs. 3,653.75 crore in Q1 FY25, about 6.8% growth, while net profit swung to a profit of Rs. 61.89 crore from a loss of Rs. 95.36 crore a year ago (the prior-year loss was largely due to exceptional forex losses at overseas subsidiaries). On a consolidated basis, revenue grew roughly 10.6% to Rs. 2,058 crore and net profit rose about 19.5% to Rs. 57.15 crore, with EPS of Rs. 7.91 vs Rs. 6.62. The Flexible Packaging segment continues to drive the bulk of revenue and profits. The joint statutory auditors (Vijay Sehgal & Co. and Lodha & Co LLP) issued an unmodified review conclusion but flagged an Emphasis of Matter relating to an Income Tax Department search conducted in February 2023, which has resulted in demand orders totalling Rs. 412.81 crore for AY 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23. The company has filed appeals and believes no material tax liability will ultimately devolve.
Operational results show a clear turnaround on both standalone and consolidated bases, which is supportive for the stock. However, the Rs. 412.81 crore tax demand is a significant overhang, and investors should track the progress of the company's appeals, since an adverse outcome could materially impact future earnings.
