United Spirits Limited (USL) reported Q1 FY26 results with standalone revenue from operations largely flat at ₹5,823 crores versus ₹5,829 crores in Q1 FY25, while consolidated revenue rose modestly to ₹6,295 crores from ₹6,238 crores. Profitability, however, weakened — standalone profit after tax fell about 14% to ₹258 crores and consolidated PAT fell to ₹417 crores from ₹485 crores. The core beverage alcohol segment's EBITDA declined to ₹413 crores from ₹458 crores, reflecting margin pressure from higher input and advertising costs. The company completed acquisition of a 97% stake in Nao Spirits & Beverages on June 26, 2025, and recognised exceptional items of ~₹11 crores for employee severance and ~₹3 crores for financial assistance to families affected by the June 4 RCB celebration stampede. The statutory auditor (Price Waterhouse) included emphasis-of-matter paragraphs on legacy issues relating to the UBHL matter and the ongoing IDBI Bank dispute.
Soft quarter with operating margin compression despite stable top-line; near-term sentiment may be weighed down by the RCB stampede aftermath and legacy legal overhangs, though the Nao Spirits acquisition adds a premium craft spirits growth lever for the medium term.
