Universal Cables Limited's Board met on 8th August 2025 and approved its Q1 FY26 (quarter ended 30 June 2025) unaudited financial results. On a standalone basis, revenue from operations rose about 23% year-on-year to ₹60,019 lakhs (vs ₹48,870 lakhs in Q1 FY25), while profit after tax jumped to ₹1,949.85 lakhs (vs ₹166.77 lakhs), with EPS at ₹5.62 (vs ₹0.48). On a consolidated basis, PAT was ₹3,291.33 lakhs with EPS of ₹9.49. Separately, the Board approved issuance of a corporate guarantee of up to USD 11,307,300 (about 50% of a USD 22.6 million arrangement) in favour of Lightera, LLC, USA, to back Birla Furukawa Fibre Optics Pvt Ltd (BFFOPL), the company's joint venture, for importing Preforms from Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Japan on open credit terms between 1 July 2025 and 31 March 2026. The company clarified there is no immediate cash outflow and no expected liability. The Board also designated Shri Sanjeev Dubey, Senior VP (Sales & EHV Operations), as a Senior Managerial Personnel.
Strong Q1 earnings with sharp profit growth year-on-year are a positive signal for shareholders. The corporate guarantee is a contingent obligation for the joint venture's import activity and is not expected to materially impact the company's financials, though it does expose the company to potential liability if BFFOPL defaults.
