Ushakiran Finance Limited, a small Hyderabad-based NBFC focused on investments, announced its audited results for FY25 (year ended 31 March 2025). Full-year profit after tax nearly tripled to ₹24.38 lakhs versus ₹8.16 lakhs in FY24, lifting EPS to ₹0.96 from ₹0.32, helped by a jump in other income to ₹12.34 lakhs and net fair value gains of ₹9.44 lakhs. However, revenue from operations actually declined to ₹43.06 lakhs from ₹45.57 lakhs, and the standalone Q4 FY25 slipped into a loss of ₹5.54 lakhs versus a ₹0.69 lakh loss a year earlier, mostly from fair-value losses of ₹5.04 lakhs. Other comprehensive income swung sharply negative to ₹(243.70) lakhs versus ₹696.97 lakhs, reflecting mark-to-market movements in the investment book (total investments of ₹1,569.91 lakhs). Total assets stood at ₹1,684.11 lakhs with no debt on the books. Statutory auditors NSVR & Associates LLP issued an unmodified opinion, and the company also appointed new internal and secretarial auditors.
The clean audit opinion and strong annual PAT growth are positives, but the underlying weakness is clear: core operating revenue is shrinking, the Q4 quarter turned loss-making, and the investment portfolio continues to drive volatile mark-to-market swings that hit equity. Shareholders should view this as a small, balance-sheet-light investment company where results depend heavily on market movements rather than steady income.
