Ushakiran Finance, a small investment-focused NBFC, reported FY25 full-year profit after tax of Rs. 24.38 lakhs, nearly tripling from Rs. 8.16 lakhs in FY24. The jump was driven mainly by a sharp rise in 'other income' to Rs. 12.34 lakhs (from Rs. 0.34 lakhs) rather than core operations. Total income rose about 21% to Rs. 55.40 lakhs, but revenue from operations actually declined to Rs. 43.06 lakhs from Rs. 45.57 lakhs. Q4 standalone was a loss of Rs. 5.54 lakhs, with a steep negative other comprehensive income of Rs. 264.39 lakhs from fair-value drops in its investment portfolio, pushing total comprehensive income to Rs. -232.12 lakhs. Total assets fell to Rs. 1,684.11 lakhs from Rs. 1,943.71 lakhs. Statutory auditor NSVR & Associates LLP issued an unmodified opinion. The company also changed its internal auditor (previous firm M/s Suresh and Babu did not consent for reappointment) and appointed M/s P.S. Rao & Associates as secretarial auditor for five years.
For shareholders, the headline PAT growth is flattering but masks weak core operations and a sizeable mark-to-market loss in the investment book during Q4. The stock is small-cap and thinly traded, so price action is likely to track investment portfolio valuations rather than steady earnings.
