Utkarsh Small Finance Bank reported a net loss of ₹1,15,097.84 lakh for FY26, a significant decline from profit of ₹2,370.05 lakh in FY25, primarily due to high provisions of ₹1,56,296.34 lakh. The bank posted Q4 loss of ₹18,801.56 lakh versus profit of ₹296.73 lakh in Q4 FY25. Despite the losses, asset quality improved with Gross NPA down to 7.71% from 9.43% and Net NPA down to 3.29% from 4.84%. The bank raised ₹94,907.93 lakh via a Rights Issue in November 2025. On governance, the Board appointed Mr. Anjani Kumar Srivastava (SIDBI Chief General Manager) as Additional Director and re-appointed Mr. Parveen Kumar Gupta as Independent Director for a second term. Three senior management positions were also filled including Chief HR Officer, Head-Assets and Chief Credit Officer. The ongoing UCL amalgamation is awaiting NCLT second motion petition.
The massive FY26 loss reflects elevated provisioning for bad loans, which may concern short-term investors. However, improving NPA ratios and successful capital raise provide some comfort. The appointment of experienced SIDBI and HDFC/Bandhan Bank veterans signals focus on credit quality and MSMEs expertise.
