Utkarsh Small Finance Bank reported a net loss of Rs 1,150.98 crore for FY2026 ended March 31, 2026, compared to a net profit of Rs 23.70 lakh in FY2025. Total income stood at Rs 3,809.75 crore. The bank experienced significant stress with Gross NPA at 7.71% and Net NPA at 3.29%, though showing improvement from 9.43% and 4.84% respectively in the prior year. Capital Adequacy Ratio declined to 17.71% from 20.93%. The Board approved re-appointment of Mr. Parveen Kumar Gupta as Independent Director for a second term and appointed Mr. Anjani Kumar Srivastava (SIDBI Chief General Manager) as Additional Director. Three senior management appointments were also made: Ms. Dhara Vyas (CHRO), Mr. Abhay Kataria (Head-Assets), and Mr. Anindya Mitra (Chief Credit Officer). The bank completed a Rs 949.08 crore rights issue in November 2025 and recognized a deferred tax asset of Rs 355.82 crore. The scheme of amalgamation with promoter entity Utkarsh CoreInvest Limited awaits NCLT approval.
The bank posted a massive loss for FY2026 driven by high provisions for bad loans, indicating elevated credit stress. Despite NPA ratios improving, the substantial loss will negatively impact shareholder returns and likely put downward pressure on the stock price in the near term. The capital raise provides a cushion for growth and regulatory requirements.
