Utkarsh Small Finance Bank reported a net loss of ₹1,151 crore for FY26 versus a profit of ₹24 crore in FY25, primarily due to market disruptions in the microfinance segment. Q4 FY26 alone saw a loss of ₹188 crore against a profit of ₹3 crore a year ago. Total disbursements grew 30.1% YoY to ₹4,207 crore in Q4, driven by strong 51.4% growth in non-JLG disbursements. Gross loan portfolio stood at ₹19,332 crore (down 1.7% YoY) as JLG portfolio declined 37.1% due to strategic slowdown for asset quality focus. The bank successfully diversified its portfolio with secured loans now constituting 51% (up from 43%). Deposits grew to ₹21,654 crore with strong CASA growth of 10.6% and retail term deposit growth of 19.6%. Asset quality improved significantly with Gross NPA reducing from 9.4% to 7.7% and Net NPA from 4.8% to 3.3%. CRAR remains robust at 17.71%.
The bank is navigating through a challenging period in microfinance with elevated provisions (₹1,563 crore for FY26) but shows early signs of stabilization in asset quality. The strategic shift toward secured lending and retail deposits is progressing well, positioning the bank for recovery as operational efficiency improves.
