V-Guard Industries posted weak Q1 FY26 results, with consolidated net revenue declining 0.7% year-on-year to Rs. 1,466.08 crore from Rs. 1,477.10 crore, hit by a weak summer season and a high base last year. Profit after tax fell sharply by 25.4% to Rs. 73.85 crore, while EBITDA (excluding other income) dropped 20.7% to Rs. 123.59 crore. The Consumer Durables segment was the biggest drag, with revenue falling 16.3% and the segment slipping into a loss of Rs. 7.17 crore versus a profit of Rs. 21.73 crore a year ago. Electronics and Electricals segments grew moderately at 4.5% and 7.6% respectively, and non-South markets grew 2.1% while South India declined 3.3%. Management announced the initiation of a merger of Sunflame with V-Guard to fast-track synergy benefits and expects demand to normalise in coming quarters.
The sharp 25% drop in profit and negative surprises in the Durables segment are likely to weigh on the stock in the near term, though the announced Sunflame merger and stable gross margins of ~37% provide some medium-term support.
