VA Tech Wabag has announced its first Bio-CNG plant project in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, in partnership with PEAK Sustainability Ventures. The plant will be built at the 70 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant in Dundahera under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model with Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam. The project converts biogas from wastewater treatment into renewable Bio-CNG fuel, expected to reduce approximately 250,000 metric tons of carbon emissions over its lifetime. Commercial operations are targeted within one year, with WABAG handling execution and O&M for 15 years. This is a repeat order from an existing client and part of a broader vision to establish 100 Bio-CNG plants across India. No financial values or order size were disclosed.
The announcement is positive as WABAG secured a repeat order from an existing government client, expanding into the emerging waste-to-energy segment. However, without disclosed financial values, the actual revenue impact remains unclear for investors.
