VA Tech Wabag, as the lead partner in a joint venture, has received a Letter of Award from the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) to build a city-wide looped water transmission network for Greater Chennai under the Chennai Climate Resilient Water Security and Sewerage Project. The order is classified as a 'Mega' order, meaning its value exceeds INR 1,000 Crores, and is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The scope includes bulk transmission pipelines, feeder mains, pumping stations, underground tanks, and SCADA system integration, to be completed in 54 months followed by 10 years of operation and maintenance. This is a domestic project with no related-party involvement, and it strengthens Chennai's water supply resilience against climate-related disruptions.
This Mega order (above INR 1,000 Crores) is a meaningful addition to Wabag's order book, likely boosting its FY26-27 revenue visibility and providing long-term recurring income from the 10-year O&M phase. ADB funding lowers payment risk, and the scale of the win reinforces Wabag's position as a leading domestic water infrastructure player, which should be viewed positively by the market.
