Vedanta Resources Ltd and subsidiaries disclosed encumbrance creation on 56.38% of Vedanta Power shares (about 220.47 crore shares) under a USD 2.25 billion facility agreement dated July 20, 2026. No actual pledge was created - this stems from loan negative covenants in the agreement. Initial commitment is USD 1.545 billion with up to USD 705 million increase facility. Lenders include Barclays, Citibank, JP Morgan, Standard Chartered and others. Twin Star Holdings holds 40.02%, Vedanta Holdings Mauritius II holds 12.60%, with smaller stakes by Welter Trading, VHML and Vedanta Netherlands.
Encumbrance covering over half of promoter-held shares may concern investors about group debt and risks if covenants are breached. No shares are physically pledged yet.
