ICRA Limited has reaffirmed Vedanta Limited's credit ratings at ICRA AA (long-term) with a 'Watch Developing' outlook and ICRA A1+ (short-term). The review was prompted in part by a recent short-seller report, which ICRA evaluated independently and found no reason to change the ratings. ICRA noted that the Group's leverage ratio (Net Debt/OPBDITA) improved to 2.5x in FY25 from 3.2x in FY24, supported by healthy profitability in aluminium and zinc operations. Recent refinancing at the parent level (Vedanta Resources Limited) has smoothed the debt maturity profile and is expected to lower finance costs from FY26 onward.
Positive for shareholders — the reaffirmation after the short-seller report removes a key overhang on the stock and signals continued lender confidence, though the 'Watch Developing' tag means further rating movement is still possible.
