CRISIL Ratings assigned a new 'CRISIL AA' rating to Vedanta Limited's Non-Convertible Debentures and placed it on 'Watch Developing'. The company's existing long-term rating (CRISIL AA/Watch Developing) and short-term rating (CRISIL A1+) were both reaffirmed with no change. CRISIL withdrew its rating on NCDs worth Rs. 6,089 crores because these debentures are being transferred to Vedanta Aluminium Metal Ltd (VAML), a group entity that will house the aluminium business post-demerger. The watch status reflects uncertainty related to the upcoming group demerger.
The ratings remain stable at investment-grade level; the 'Watch Developing' status is neutral pending clarity on the demerger and does not signal immediate credit concern. Shareholders can view this as a routine corporate restructuring with no negative credit signal.
