Vedanta informed the exchange that its subsidiary Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) approved its unaudited consolidated and standalone financial results for Q1 FY26 (quarter ended June 30, 2025). HZL's consolidated revenue from operations came in at ₹7,771 crore, down about 4.4% from ₹8,130 crore in Q1 FY25, while net profit fell to ₹2,234 crore from ₹2,345 crore (a ~4.7% YoY decline). Operating margin stayed flat at 38% and net profit margin at 29%, with EPS at ₹5.29 versus ₹5.55. The statutory auditor (S.R. Batliboi & Co. LLP) issued an unmodified (clean) limited review opinion. Management noted short-seller allegations against Vedanta Group entities including HZL, calling them baseless with no adjustments needed. HZL had also declared an interim dividend of ₹10 per share (₹4,225 crore total) in June 2025.
The results are mildly negative for shareholders — modest YoY decline in both revenue and profit, but margins held steady. The sharp rise in debt-equity ratio (from 0.84 to 1.19) and the lingering short-seller overhang on Vedanta group entities may keep stock sentiment cautious in the near term.
