Vibhor Steel Tubes (VSTL) has begun commercial supply of ERW and GI pipes from its newly commissioned 156,000 MT greenfield plant (Unit III) located in Sundargarh, Odisha, with electricity access received on July 11, 2025. The plant, spread across 23.98 acres, involved a total investment of Rs 119.83 crore over 30 months. With this addition, VSTL's total installed capacity rises to 377,000 MTPA across three plants in Maharashtra, Telangana, and Odisha. The Odisha unit will also manufacture value-added products such as crash barriers, power transmission line towers, high mast lighting poles, octagonal poles, and monopoles. Chairman Vijay Kaushik stated the new capacity will help tap new markets, scale exports, and boost margins through higher value-added product mix. For context, Q1 FY26 saw operating income of Rs 230.96 crore and net profit of Rs 3.14 crore, while FY25 operating income stood at Rs 996.38 crore with a net profit of Rs 11.77 crore.
This is a major capacity expansion (approximately 70% increase over prior ~221,000 MTPA) that strengthens VSTL's production and distribution reach, with management expecting positive impact on both revenue and margins going forward. Positive long-term growth signal, though near-term FY25 financials showed a dip in both topline and bottomline versus FY24.
