Virtuoso Optoelectronics filed its investor presentation for Q2 and H1 FY26 with BSE. For H1FY26, net sales dipped 2.2% YoY to ₹2,990 Mn, but EBITDA grew 13.5% to ₹319 Mn, with EBITDA margin expanding sharply by 163 basis points to 10.6%. However, bottom line weakened significantly — profit after tax fell 56.4% YoY to ₹33 Mn and EPS dropped 61% to ₹1.10, dragged by a 34% rise in interest costs and a 71% jump in depreciation. Management outlined a way-forward plan focused on sweating existing assets, deepening backward integration, moving up the value chain via ODM designs, and scaling high-potential categories like commercial refrigeration, washing machines, and EMS at a targeted 35–40% CAGR. Capacity is set to expand notably from FY26 to FY27, with AC units doubling to 18 lakh and EMS capacity doubling to 8 lakh cph. The company continues to benefit from a ₹100 Cr PLI sanction and strong blue-chip customer base.
Margin improvement story is positive, but the steep fall in net profit due to higher interest and depreciation costs is a red flag for shareholders in the short term. The aggressive FY27 capacity expansion and growth targets signal management confidence, but execution and capital costs will be key things to watch.
